Blackened Shrimp

A quick weekday dinner option is this yummy delicacy called Blackened Shrimp. You can experiment with it, slide it into your tacos, roll it in lettuce, have it with tomato, or munch on it with your favorite dip.

It is super convenient to have a bunch of shrimp in the freezer when you have to whip up a quick meal and want it to taste good. They take no time to defrost, and to cook them is pretty quick too.

The coat of the amazing mix of spices serves as marination and provides a fantastic coat to form a blackened crust on these shrimps.

Blackened Shrimp? What Are Those?

In Cajun cuisine, blackening is a style of preparing food. Before placing the shrimp onto a sizzling skillet, a lustrous mix of spices with a hint of herbs is added as a coat.

To make the shrimp crispy, brown sugar is added to the mix to caramelize on the pan and embrace the shrimp. Sounds amazing!

How to Make Blackened Shrimp:

The first step is to mix the blackening seasoning in a small container. Make sure that every shrimp is coated thoroughly by throwing them into the mixture. Allow the shrimp to soak up the flavors by setting it aside.

The next thing you’ll do is heat a pan to medium-high heat, but you can crank it up to high if you’re aiming for a dark crust. Swirl around a tablespoon of olive oil in the pan and lay out a shrimp layer. Cook them for 2 minutes on either side before adding your garlic, then toast for another 30 seconds.

It is the simplest thing in the world because you’re done at this point. Chop up some cilantro and sprinkle it on top; slice some lime to serve it along with the shrimp. Delicious!

Frozen shrimp was used for the recipe, but go ahead and try it with precooked shrimp too. You can avoid overcooking them by cooking them for just 30 seconds on each side.

How to Serve Blackened Shrimp

There are numerous ways to serve this shrimp, but we had them in shrimp tacos! You could munch on them in bites, have them with pasta or rice or make a low-carb meal with lettuce wraps at any time of the day!
