- In sesame oil, fry shrimp and the vegetables.
- Frizzle the bell pepper, ginger, garlic, zucchini, and pineapple.
- Incorporate the sauce in before simmering for 2 minutes.
- Add the cornstarch concoction and cook for 30 seconds or till it starts to get thick.
- Throw in the shrimp and sauté till it is warm before garnishing with sesame seeds and green onion.
What is the right-sized shrimp?
The number of shrimp per pound is a good way of determining the shrimp size. I prefer 16/20 shrimps per pound; that is the count per lb. This is a good size if you want to prevent the shrimp from scorching and gives you 2 bites in a shrimp. Watch closely because it takes about 2 minutes for the shrimp to be ready. Shrimp forms a stiff ‘C’ and ends up being rubbery instead of succulent if overcooked.
What goes into a sweet and sour sauce?
Tomato is used as a base, vinegar, and something to sweeten it. I just added a spin to my homemade sauce recipe for the stir-fry. I like to have command over each ingredient’s quantity going into the dish to keep it healthy even though most of the recipes include ketchup.
An ideal balance of flavor is achieved by a mixture of pineapple juice, soy sauce, tomato paste, and honey. To add a lush coat that sticks to the shrimp, we add a cornstarch mixture.
