The culinary rites inherited from Aztec societies and the Mayan people received Hispanic influences upon the arrival of the Spaniards in Central America in the 16th century.

Mexican cuisine is a true cosmopolitan mix! Heir to European cuisine, especially that of Spain, there are contributions from African, Caribbean, Asian, Middle Eastern or pre-Columbian cuisine.

1. Seasoning for the meat

  • 1 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper

No need to buy ready-made envelopes, this taco spice mix is as good, even better than what you'll find at the grocery store. If you like very spicy dishes increase the dose of ground red pepper flakes.

The advantage of this homemade seasoning is that you can dose the spices as desired, and those for example who monitor their salt intake can reduce the amount or do without.
