Very colorful and festive, Mexican cuisine is a delight for everyone during the summer, but it can also warm you in cold weather. Spicy, sunny and full of freshness, the culinary art of Mexico has stood out for millennia. The culinary rites inherited from Aztec societies and the Mayan people received Hispanic influences upon the arrival of the Spaniards in Central America in the 16th century.
Mexican cuisine is a true cosmopolitan mix! Heir to European cuisine, especially that of Spain, there are contributions from African, Caribbean, Asian, Middle Eastern or pre-Columbian cuisine.
Cultivated for centuries by native Mexicans, tomatoes, beans, avocado, hot peppers, and most importantly, the essential corn cob is essential foods for Mexican cuisine. Add to that the food brought in by Europeans such as farmed meat and dairy products, and you have the ingredients in hand to prepare a Mexican-style meal.
